AJ841

This is how she will look very soon....

AJ 841

I have not really blogged for a while so I will start with what we have planned for 2015.... For me on reflection 2014 was a total success on the Harvard flying as I achieved over 40 hours flying which has notched me up to just over 60 hours on the aircraft... I have spent most of this circuit bashing and perfecting my aileron rolls and loops... Hopefully I can now move on to cubans and decent wing overs and that should do it on the Harvard aerobatics.... I don't think any more moves are really necessary on such an old machine as we want to look after the old girl... These moves combined with the noise she makes is enough to perform a pleasing display!

On the 7th April 2015 G-BJST had a new canopy fitted... Converted from the MK4 canopy to a new old stock MKII canopy to give her the wartime look.... I flew her in to Bruntingthorpe where the front 2 sections were fitted with the rear section to follow once it has been restored...

From Bruntingthorpe and a little trip in to Sywell I flew her to Nottingham for some fuel... Traeted them to a little fly by, on to leicester for more of the same then set course for Sheffield, York Redcar and finally Fishburn airfield where she is being re painted....

The paint work is being done by RS Paintworks in the colours of AJ 841 a Harvard that was in service in the Middle East from 1942 - 1946...When she is done she will be the only Harvard in the Northern hemisphere painted in these colours... The elevators are being re skinned as part of the continued effort to keep her in good sound flying condition....

I will keep you posted with the results as we go along....!
Thank you RS PAINTWORKS

STICK AND RUDDER

I have just purchased 2 very cool books... Maybe a bit late you might say? However I think they have come just at the right time... My Harvard flying seems to be coming on nicely and having read some of "Stick and Rudder by Wolfgang Langewiesche" and the Complete tail dragger pilot.... A few things have become really clear! The training I have had is second to none and with all training its good to take as many perspectives as you can... and at some point the penny will start to drop!
